MVMTLAB: CrossFit Athlete Recovery and Performance Optimization
Vancouver, BC – MVMTLAB, a leader in cutting-edge sports medicine and rehabilitation, continues to demonstrate its expertise in solving complex movement dysfunctions for elite athletes. In a recent case, MVMTLAB successfully restored full shoulder mobility for a competitive CrossFit athlete, enabling them to return to peak performance in Olympic lifts and handstand pushups. This case highlights MVMTLAB’s ability to uncover and treat the hidden causes of pain and dysfunction through its proprietary Entry Point Assessment system.

The Challenge: Reduced Shoulder Mobility in a Competitive CrossFit Athlete
A CrossFit athlete with over 10 years of competitive experience sought MVMTLAB’s expertise after struggling with reduced shoulder mobility that severely limited their ability to perform key movements such as the snatch and handstand pushups. Despite their dedication to training, the athlete was unable to lift their arms overhead, a critical limitation in CrossFit’s high-intensity functional training environment. Upon initial examination, the athlete presented with extremely tight forearm extensors, poor grip strength, and limited cervical spine flexion. These symptoms had resisted traditional approaches, leaving the athlete unable to perform at their best.
Innovative Assessment Reveals the Root Cause
Dr. Jeff Almon, DC, founder of MVMTLAB, utilized the Entry Point Assessment system to identify the underlying issue: a radial nerve entrapment in the athlete’s right forearm. This nerve entrapment was restricting the athlete’s range of motion and contributing to their shoulder dysfunction. Following targeted treatment to release the radial nerve, the athlete’s shoulder mobility immediately improved to full range.Further assessment revealed that the left shoulder dysfunction was secondary to tightness in the extensor muscles of the cervical spine. Treatment of these muscles resulted in a complete resolution of the athlete’s mobility issues. This case underscores the interconnectedness of the body and the importance of a comprehensive, whole-body assessment to uncover hidden dysfunctions.
Immediate and Lasting Results
The athlete experienced immediate improvements in shoulder mobility, allowing them to return to training without pain or restriction. By addressing the root causes of dysfunction, MVMTLAB not only resolved the athlete’s current limitations but also provided education for long-term performance optimization.
